Hard and Soft:
Carmen Perez and Diana Solis

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage and Chicago Artists' Months, Chicago State University exhibits Diana Solis, painter, and Carmen Perez, metalsmith. "Hard and Soft" explores the complexity of ideas, range of media and technical skills, and sheer physical labor needed to create work that extends beyond the boundaries of expectations from women artists.

Carmen Perez is a metalsmith who specializes in small scale metal sculptures and jewelry. The human form is a central element in her modernist works. Diana Solis is a painter who creates drawings, paintings and installations using rich color and textures.
